Wanted You More – Lady Antebellum

Wanted You More

It’s songs like this that turned me onto country music.  The lyrics are obvious, straightforward and moving.

“All the nights we spent, just talking of the things we wanted out of life.  Making plans and dreams together.  Wish I’d seen, I was just too blind.”

“My heart was open, exposed and hoping, for you to lay it on the line.  In the end it seemed there was no room for me, still I tried to change your mind.”

I really love Lady Antebellum because of their duets. They give you two perspectives of love and relationships.  I love that you can relate to the honesty in their lyrics.

“Oh, I don’t need you, I don’t need you anymore.  I guess I wanted you more.  And looking back now, I’m sure, I wanted you more.  I guess I wanted you more”

Sometimes all you need to do to get clarity on a relationship is to get out of it.  Being so immersed in somebody can convince you that you have feelings that really aren’t there.  I saw this song as a realization of that for one of them, and a moving on for the other.

I love this song.  I’ve been waiting for some good new country for a while…finally!

Jackson Browne – Solo Acoustic Vol.1

I got this CD as a gift in high school and continued to listen to it on repeat for about two years.  I sadly lost it and just remembered how great it is.  Jackson Browne is amazing, and listening to him stripped down and acoustic just magnifies his talent.

I have yet to come across a lyric of his that is not both relatable and beautiful.  Some of my favorite tracks from this album include:

These Days

Fountain of Sorrow

For a Dancer

The Pretender

Download it here at iTunes.  Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

When I’m Alone – Lissie

This was the first of Lissie‘s songs that I had the pleasure of hearing.  She manages to convey a sense of strength in her voice while still sounding vulnerable and haunting.  That, plus her amazing lyrics and guitar skills, came together to create a beautiful song.

Constantly being disappointed by a person who you expect to be there for you can drive you crazy.

And when the phone rang and I thought it was you and I sprung like a kid who just got out of school but its almost, always never you, never you. I scream like child, my insides went wild.

Why not leave, you ask?  Why stay with a person who disappoints you, right?  Well, as Lissie so eloquently put it:

And when I’m alone with you, you make me feel and you make me feel.  When I’m alone with you, you are the one and you are the one.

When being around somebody feels right it can be hard to walk away.  But if you don’t, you’ll probably end up looking just about as miserable and pissed as Lissie does in that kick-ass video.
